Be Cheerful with What You Have

Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the mainly influential composers of all time, was born in Germany in 1770. In his babyhood, he had to suffer the harsh treatment of his alcoholic and ill-tempered father. The pianist father attempted to exploit his son as a child prodigy and taught him day and night. Beethoven was often found crying by the piano key board.
Young Beethoven had to look after his family from an early age. In March 1787 he travelled to Vienna to learn music. But he had to go back within two weeks because of his mother’s sickness. Shortly after, his mother passed away. His father lapsed deeper into alcoholism. Beethoven became responsible for the care of his two younger brothers and didn’t return to Austria for the next 5 years.
Inspite of all this, he continued composing music. But the biggest tragedy of his life was yet to come. When Beethoven was 26 years old he began to lose his hearing capacity. He was completely deaf during the last 15 years of his life.
Just imagine, a person is composing music but cannot hear it! At the end of the premiere of his Ninth Symphony, he had to be turned around to see the tumultuous applause of the audience. Hearing not anything, he wept.
While composing, he used a piece of metal attached to his piano and would put the piece of metal between his teeth. By putting the piece of metal among his teeth, he could feel the vibrations from the piano – he would actually feel the music.
Now imagine yourself in Beethoven’s place for a while. You won’t be able to stop yourself from being thankful!

How to Think Like a Champion

You are in a journey to manage greatness. You cannot afford to give up or get frustrated easily. You cannot responsibility others for your failure either. Because successful people never let others affect them. They never give up in the face of an obstacle.
So always try to think and express yourself positively. For example, instead of thinking I got such poor grades. I am worthless’, think 'I got nervous during the exam and because of that I made a lot of mistakes. I won’t get nervous next time.'
Learn to love yourself. Instead of concentrating on your weaknesses, concentrate on your strengths and try to develop them. Instead of thinking about what you could have or should have done, think of what you can do now. Instead of being jealous of others, identify their good character and try to develop them in yourself.
Do not run away or give up in the face of an obstacle. administration away means you are not giving your super-powerful brain the chance to solve the problem. So face any obstacle head on. Put maximum effort into overcoming it. After a while, you’ll find a way. You’ll understanding a surge of confidence and the thrill of self discovery.
Because the truth is, although the first instinct is often to run away in the look on an obstacle, deep down human beings like challenges.

Doing Group Study otherwise Hanging out with Friends?

Group study is really good as an plan. When you have problem understanding something, taking notes or holding on to your motivation, group study can be the best solution. But be careful ! Often group study is just another reason for hanging out with friends and is nothing but a waste of time. In order to make group study more effective, keep these few things in mind:
Make sure that the group has no more than 4 to 5 members. They should all be serious students who want to do good well, are responsible, have good understanding capability and can adjust with the group easily. Most importantly, they should all like each other.
The group should have a leader who will make sure that the purpose of the group study is achieved. S/he would ensure that everyone does equal amount of work, study well and do not waste all the time talking or gossiping. S/he would also make sure that all the members are getting along well with each other.
There can be 2 to 3 group sessions in a week. Choose a quiet place for the group study, where there is minimum disturbance.

For a Peaceful Student Life

Do you worry about studying more than you in fact study?
Do not create pressure on yourself by worrying about studies all the time. A research conducted by Harvard Business School found that a person acquires only 15% of his requirement and skills from school, college or university. The other 85% comes from the School of Life. If Winston Churchill could be the Prime Minister of Britain even after failing repeatedly in school, then your life won't be over if you don't do that well in one exam. A super student studies to gain knowledge. Good result is just a by product.
There is no use competing with others. No matter how well you do, there will always be someone anywhere who did better. So compete with yourself instead. If you get 70% mark in the 1st term, try to get more in the 2nd term. That’s a stress-free way to improve.
Instead of creating stress by thinking 'How will I ever finish all this in such a short time?' sit down with a pen and paper and make a study plan. Then start your work. The more things you would cover, the less stressed you will be. Remember, procrastination is a big reason for stress.
Studying is essential for life but it is not whole life. So, besides learning from books, try to learn from the real world too. Try to help in household chores. Do the weekly grocery shopping yourself.
.

Health is Assets/Wealth

Imagine this scene- a student worked day and night to prepare himself for the exams. He followed his routine and did everything necessary for good result. But just before the examination, he got sick. After doing some tests, the doctor declared that he had kidney infection and advised complete bed rest. Wasn't all his hard work and training meaningless?
If you take care of your health you will always have energy and enthusiasm. Your mind will be clear and tranquil. You will find it easier to contemplate and remember. You will be able to work continuously for a few nights or walk a long distance without feeling tired. A truly healthy person never gets stressed or depressed. He is always active and energetic.
Thus although good health starts with the body, its result is also on the mind. This is why it is especially important to develop the following healthy habits in order to become a successful student.
Eat:
Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are known as sources of instant energy as they are digested easily and quickly. The amount of energy in 1 banana is equal to the amount of energy you need to play 5 sets of tennis. Not only that, research shows that vegetables rich in vitamin B, such as spinach and other dark luxuriant greens, broccoli, asparagus, strawberries, melons, black beans and other legumes, citrus fruits, soybeans etc. actually get better your memory. So add lots of fruits and vegetables to your everyday menu.
Proteins
Proteins have an important role in the improvement of your brain. So try to take food containing protein. Eat one egg everyday. Lentils contain a lot of protein. So have lentils regularly in good amount. Your immune system will become stronger.
Nuts
Eat nuts regularly they contain lots of protein and vitamin. There are much type of nuts available in the market. Try them out.
Heavy Breakfast
Always try to take a heavy breakfast. Because after a gap of 10 hours, your body is best prepared to receive food. So avoid taking light food or rushing off after a cup of coffee. Have a full meal.
Eat habitually in Small Amounts
It a heavy meal makes you feel drowsy, then eat frequently in little amounts. But do not go on a crash diet. Everyone's body is unique. So, it is meaningless to desparately try to attain an 'ideal' shape or size. Eat in sensible amounts but make sure you have adequate nutrition.
Avoid fast food
Avoid fast food, junk food and soft drinks. These food are hard to digest them and therefore can make you tired and lethargic and also decrease your concentration level. The spices and chemical ingredients which are used in these processed food also have a harmful effect on your body. Finally, research shows that children who are given a lot of processed food even have poorer IQs than those who are given healthy food.
Drink Lots of Water
Two-third of your body is composed of water. Lack of water can cause constipation, headache, laziness and drowsiness. So, try to drink 6-7 glass of water everyday, even if you do not get thirsty.
Exercise
Physical activity is very important for a healthy life. Try to do exercise and walk daily. investigate shows that walking only 30 minutes everyday can improve your memory. Lead an active life.
6 hrs of sleep is enough for a student. Make a habit of rising early in morning. You’ll get more time to whole all the work for the day.

Turn Problems into Chances

A farmer owned an old donkey. One day the donkey fell into the farmer's well. It started braying piteously. It brayed so much that the farmer and the neighbors were having a hard time bearing it.
Finally the farmer decided that the donkey was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway. It just wasn't worth it to try to save it.
He asked all his neighbors to come over and help him. Each of them grabbed a shovel and began to spade dirt into the well.
At first, the mule brayed horribly. Then, to everyone's astonishment, he became quiet.
Some time later, the farmer looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. Every time a shovel of dirt hit the donkey's back, he shook it off and stepped on it. The bigger the pile of dirt, the higher it stepped up.
Finally, to everyone's astonishment, the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!
Whenever life shovels dirt at you, just shake it off and use it as a stepping stone. Your strongest obstacle can become your biggest chance, if you don’t surrender in your own mind. Because a person first loses in his own mind, then he loses in reality.
The truth is, obstacles are necessary for your increase. It is only in the face of an obstacle we discover how powerful we truly are. This is the process of success. So if you want to be successful stop making excuses like `My teachers are not helpful’, `My subject is boring’, `Got financial crisis’, `Don’t have the proper atmosphere to study’ or `There is no one to inspire me’. Take all these problem as challenges and learn from them.

Your Handwriting - Your Expression

The examiner forms an feeling about you based on your handwriting. Very often, a good answer with a bad handwriting will score less than a bad answer with a good handwriting. This does not mean that your handwriting needs to be like calligraphy! You can improve your handwriting by following these simple tips :
• Try to make the sentences straight. Tilted sentences make the full thing look untidy.
• Write the letters properly. Most of us have problems with 2 or 3 letters and this makes the whole thing illegible.
• Make sure there is enough space between the words. This will make the whole thing look neat and organized.
• Practice handwriting. Find a good handwriting and follow it. Surely, you will develop!

Togetherness Turns Strength Into Great Strength

Have you ever noticed a flock of birds flying in the sky? From a distance, they look like the letter ‘V’. Scientists have found that when birds fly together, their speed is 71% more. Why? Because when they fly together, they give force to each other with the movement of their wings. They do not have this improvement when they fly alone.
So always stay united with other good people. United people always succeed in life.
You need to be united if you want to be first in life. The group will help you transcend your personality limitations. It will protect you from the negative influence of your surroundings. It will help you develop leadership and managerial qualities, give you strength and support.

My Teacher is the Greatest

If you can say this about your teachers, you are very lucky. And if you can’t, then take the help of meditation/reflection. The common propensity is to think of our teachers as the enemy, the opponent. Now think, if you consider your teacher as the opponent, then why should he consider you something else? So stop gossiping or unreasonable about your teachers all the time like the other students. Change your outlook. Ask questions in the class. You’ll find your studies more enjoyable. You’ll get limit help from your teachers.

10 Habits to Do Better in Exams

Take It Easy:
If we get paralyses with fear during our exam and forget everything we have learnt, it doesn't help! Exams should be like ice-cream, they shouldn't make you scream. Believe it or not, there are a lot of students who enjoy exams. For them exams are an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. If you have confidence in yourself and your homework, then there is no reason why you should be afraid of exams. The best way to be during the exam is relaxed but attentive. So change your attitude about exams.

Take a Lot of Model Tests:
In order to do well, in addition to meaningful a lot about your subject, you also need to know everything about the exam itself: how many and what type of questions you need to answer, how much time you get for each question, what is expected in the answer, which questions are most likely to be on the test, and last but not least, the exam plan!
If your course teacher is going to grade your exam, then you can get essential clues about what questions to expect in the exam and in what way to answer them from the class. Pay special attention to things s/he gives importance in class or spends a lot of time on. Do not miss the last classes before the exam, that is when you are most likely to get hints about likely questions. Also, look at the past questions
Make testing yourself a necessary part of your preparation. Take old question papers and solve them within actual time and other conditions. Use it to find your weakness. How much time are you taking? What kind of mistakes are you making? Find out ways to overcome those weaknesses.
Here is an example of how self-testing helped a group of students in a Cadet college. These students found that they were judgment it difficult to finish their geography test on time. After a lot of thinking, they found a solution to their difficulty.
In their exam, they needed to draw a map of Bangladesh and identify the location of different important places on it. They didn't know which places they would have to locate but they knew they would have to draw the map of Bangladesh. They had some time in between when they got the answer sheet and when the questions were handed out. So as soon as they got the answer sheets, they drew the map. And when they got the questions, they just located the places they needed to! In this way, they saved important time!

Don't the Devil Hit You !
Here is how the devil might hit you in the preparation phase.
• By making you spend more time worrying about the test than preparing for it.
• By making you lie to yourself: saying you can review something in one night or make things up during the test.
• By telling you to somehow get throughout this one and then do things differently the next time.
• By telling you," Why be a fool and learn everything? Be smart, wait till the last day, when you can get the 'short suggestion' ( list of questions that will be on the exam.) Then study them the night before."
• By telling you that midterms and other in course exams are not that important.
• By telling you, studying is of no use. You are hopeless to failure!
Don't let the devil succeed! When any of these thoughts come, think the opposite!

Be at the peak of your mental capability on exam day!

Sleep:
Why study all night only to find out your head isn't working and you are making sloppy mistakes on the exam? Nobody is going to ask you how much you studied the night before, they are going to look at your answer sheet. So make sure you don't cram before the exam.
There have been several researches on how sleeping the night before helps us carry out better in exams. One study found that students who got a whole night's sleep before the exam did 25% better in a multiple choice exam than students who didn't. Another study found that students who slept well the night before their math exam did better than those who didn't. So do not sleep less than you habitually do the night before the exam.
Eat:
Skipping breakfast before an exam is not a good idea, you don't want to think about food while you are writing do you? A study among secondary students in Durham showed that students who drink enough water and healthy food such as fish oil or strong carbohydrates do better in exams. So eat healthy food. Avoid rich food, sugary food, junk/fast food and other heavy food that are hard to digest.
Meditate:
If you know how to meditate, do not miss your meditation before the exam. Some top students we know actually increase the number of meditations they do per day before the exam, this helps them get by with less sleep and remain calm and alert.
Organize Your Things:
Organize all the things you will need the night before the exam the night. In that way you won't spend time rushing in the first light.
Be at the Exam Hall Early:
Take your seat at least fifteen minutes before the exam starts. Meditate for five minutes. Repeat the autosuggestion: I remember everything I read. Everything will come spontaneously when I sit down to write.

Read the Question Paper Carefully
Read the question paper carefully once, paying attention to the directions. Make sure you know exactly what is asked for in the question. Words like, 'define' 'describe', 'compare', 'contrast', 'comment on', 'ist' and 'explain' all mean different things and need different answers. Resist the temptation to write what you prepared well as an alternative of what is asked for in the question.
Plan Your Time
When reading the question paper the second time, decide which questions you are going to answer and how much time you are going to spend on each of them. refuse to accept the temptation to write the whole thing you know about a topic and move on to the next question when the time is over. Make sure you do not leave any question unanswered because of time constraints. You will get better marks for two short answers than you will get for one long answer. Keeping time for revision is really important. Make sure you have written your name and other information correctly, that the numbering of the answers is accurate, and check for other mistakes.
Learn How to Think Like an Examiner:
Imagine you were grading the exam. You were checking fifty scripts with the same answers in a short time. What would you like in the answer sheet? You would want to make sure that an answer was accurate, had all the required information and qualities, in the shortest possible time, wouldn't you?
So give your auditor what s/he wants. Make your handwriting clear and legible. Highlight all the key points. Pay special attention to the introductions and conclusions, because those are the parts that will leave a lasting impression. Include diagrams, quotes etc. to make your answer exceptional. (Ensure everything you are adding is relevant to the question though.) Start with a question you know well, and end with a question you know well. This will leave a good first and last impression with the examiner.
If You Can't Memorize, Meditate:
Never panic during an exam. If you don't know the answer to a question you must answer, after finishing the rest of the answers, go to your meditate Home. Then open your eyes and write whatever comes to your brain. You may find you remember more than you think.
Do Not Let One Bad Exam Damage the Rest:
Do not let one bad exam ruin the rest. Make the habit of thinking about the one that is coming instead of the one that passed. Meditation will help you do this.
Continue your monchobi/ vision till the results are announced.
Learn from Your Mistakes:
This is very important. If your results are not satisfactory, do not blame luck or the teacher/authorities, take responsibility for your own grades. Find out what you are doing wrong and avoid creation the same mistake in the future. You will get an idea of the possible reasons for poor marks

Friends!Just Friends!

The row between being friends with someone and liking them in that special way is very thin. So is having a crush on someone and being obsessed with the opposite sex in general. Do you have a harmful fascination for the class-mates/ group-mates from the opposite sex? If so, you are hanging at the edge. One more step and you are doomed. If you want to know whether your 'friendship' is actually something else, ask yourself these questions:

• Do you spend more time with friends of the opposite sex? (Notice we are not talking about a particular someone here, we are talking about friends of the opposite sex in general)
• Are the kind of things you talk about when you are alone with a friend from the opposite sex different from what you regularly talk about when you are alone with a friend from the same sex?
• Do you spend extra time with friends from the opposite sex on the phone or internet?
• Do you get into long planning or arguments about love, marriage etc. with friends of the opposite sex?
• Do you share very personal things - the kind of things we usually share with only one person- with a friend of the opposite sex? Why do you do that? since he or she understands you, or just because you like talking to him or her?
If the answer to all the above questions is 'yes' then your 'friendship' is just an excuse to spend time with s the opposite sex. No doubt you are having a good time now but be careful. It won't be long before the house of cards you are building in your thoughts begins to collapse. College, may be university? Then your 'best friend' will leave with someone who is more successful. You will be left alone - with a lot of valuable time exhausted.

A Bad Student Believes He Has Bad Luck

No you don't. You just believe that you do.
Do you know the primary variation between a good student and a bad student is? A good student has positive attitude and a bad student has negative attitude.
There is a funny thing about belief. Both the winner and the loser have their own beliefs. But their beliefs are completely different. A good student believes he has the ability to do well, a bad student believes he doesn't. A good student believes in his strengths, a bad student believes in his weaknesses. A good student believes he has a lot of opportunities, a bad student believes he has a lot of problems. And yes, a good student believes he has good luck, a bad student believes he has bad luck.
It is these beliefs that choose if you are going to be a winner or a loser. A right belief will bring you success and a wrong belief will bring failure.
Scientists have found that our brain, which is immensely powerful, is just like a hardware, it can't act on its own. It only does what the software tells it to do. And the software is your mind, and the beliefs and attitudes in it. So if you believe you will do well, your brain will help you find a way to do so. But if you believe you have bad luck, your brain will make you sick just before the exam.
The vital thing is to realize that these beliefs come from somewhere. Often they are created when you make a connection between two things. For example, say you
somehow caught a cold just before your exam twice in a row.
Your dad noticed this and said, 'What’s wrong with you? Why do you always get sick before your exams?'. For the first time, your brain made a connection between exams and falling sick. Then your mother added,`It used to happen to me too. Always had to take medicine before my exams'. The connection became a little stronger. You started to believe that you inherited this condition from your family. Then at the end of the examination, your mother took you to school. Your teachers and classmates asked `Why did you miss the exam? Are you scared of exams?’ `Yes, I am!’, you answered in your own mind.
From then on whenever there is an exam coming up you become anxious and agitated. You want to avoid it at any cost. At last, when not anything works, you fall sick. Even after you grew up and got promoted to the elder classes, this dreadful fear of exams stayed with you. This belief did not come out of nowhere. Your experiences, your attitude, the reactions of the people around you all interacted to create this belief. But that does not mean this belief is true. And it is certainly not helping you.
So nurture positive beliefs. If you do, use meditation and autosuggestions to get rid of them, and nurture positive beliefs instead

I Study So Hard But I Still Can't Do Well.

If this is true, then the gap between your shot and your result is probably caused by the exam. May be you are not performing well enough in the exams. Find out what you are doing wrong.
• Is your handwriting bad?
• Do you make spelling and grammar mistakes?
• Do you memorize the material without properly understanding? : Students who do this habitually leave some clue, the teacher can tell.
• Did you spend too long on some questions and too little time on others?
• Do you omit information without realizing?
• Is your language too childish or informal for your level of education?
• Did you fail to understand the question correctly?
• Did your answer include a lot of immaterial information?
• Do you make careless mistakes?
Talk to your examiner if you have the chance, and look at the answer scripts of the people who got good grades. Try to find out what they did differently. Use these lessons to do well in your next exam! Don't give

Common Problem:I am Always Sad!

Once there was a small village. All the people in the village were happy and pleased. Everyday, a young shepherd from the village used to take his flock of sheep to graze in the nearby forest.
One afternoon he was sleeping under a tree in the forest. Suddenly something shiny in the bush caught his eye. When he went close, he saw a brass lamp. He picked it up and rubbed it absent mindedly.
Suddenly, he heard a tiny voice saying, 'I’m a wish lamp. I will fulfill one wish. You can ask for anything you want.'
The shepherd was so amazed that he couldn’t think of anything to ask for. So he decided to think for a day before making the wish.
Now another boy from the village saw the whole incident from a distance. He told the villagers about the wish lamp. When the village head heard all this, he decided that every villager should get a chance to make a wish.
So in the next few days, the wish lamp went from one villager to another. One person asked for a room full of gold, another a house full of diamonds, another an ivory castle and so on.
But the humorous thing is no one asked for flowers or trees or a garden or a play ground. So all the children in the village became gloomy. The grown-ups weren't happy either! The one with the gold was unhappy because he didn't have a castle, the one with the castle was unhappy because he didn't have any gold! So they all became jealous of each other and even stopped talking to each other!
At last, the children of the village went to the shepherd to complain. They said they wanted everything to be like it used to be.
The shepherd said, 'I haven’t made my wish yet. I wish that our village turns back to the way it was.' His wish was settled. The village was once again filled with joy and merriment. Those few days became a half remembered nightmare.
This is the secret of happiness. You need to be satisfied with what you have. Think of those people who are worse off than you are. You won't feel depressed or low anymore !
And why should you waste time being upset or angry at least? Think of all those times you couldn’t concentrate in your studies because you were upset about something. As a result you did badly in the exams. What good did that do you? None. Your bad mood passed after a while. But by that time it was too late to do anything about the exam you did poorly in or the opportunity you missed.
To be in good spirits always, keep these few things in mind:

• Don't imagine anything from others. Do not think about what you can get, think of what you can give! That way, you’ll never get hurt.
• Love people! Instead of looking for their faults, look for their good qualities. Make it a habit to praise others. Congratulate people on their success. Pray for them during meditation. Your will feel much happier.
• Be busy! If you have any free time do charitable work. Do not waste time feeling sad or depressed.

One day, Mullah Nasirudin began talking to a man from another town. The man lamented, 'I am rich, but I am also sad and miserable. I have taken my money and gone traveling in search of joy-but alas, I have yet to find it.'
As the man continued talking, Nasirudin grabbed the man’s bag and ran off with it. The man chased him, and Nasirudin soon ran out of the man’s sight. He hid behind a tree, and put the bag in the open road for the man to see.
When the man caught up, he located the bag, and his facial expression immediately turned from distress to joy. As the man danced in celebration of finding his bag, Nasirudin thought to himself, 'That’s one way to bring joy to a sad man.'
Most people only appreciate what they have when it is taken away for them. But smart people welcome it while they still have it!

My Parents Don't Realize Me So I am always Sad

My parents do not realize me.' 'They do not love me.' They don’t give me any freedom.' 'They want to suffocate me with rules and regulations.' - These are the complaints we usually have about our parents.
In some cases, these complaints are sensible. Sometimes parents do force their own opinions on their children. Sometimes they want to see their own unfulfilled dreams satisfied through their children. They never think that the child may have his/her own dream.
But even if that is the case does getting upset with your parents help? No. It only brings more frustration and failure!
So next time, instead of getting upset, think `My parents may be the greatest but I’m the latest . As the latest, I have more responsibility. If my parents don't realize me, it is my responsibility to help them realize.'
So communicate in a language they will understand. And that is the language of love, the language of respect. This language can bridge all gaps, including generation gap.
However, often what you want is subjective by your friends or the media and is not good for you. Other times your parents simply cannot afford to fulfill your desires. If that is the case you should accept your parent's decision.

A long time ago there was a huge mango tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it everyday. He climbed to the treetop, ate the mangoes, took a nap under the shadow...he loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him. Time went by...the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day.
One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. 'Come and play with me', the tree asked the boy. 'I am no longer a kid, I do not play around trees any more.' The boy replied. ' I need toys,' he went on.' I need money to buy them.'
'Sorry, but I do not have any money...But you can pick all my mangoes and sell them. So, you will have money.'
The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the mangoes on the tree and left joyfully. The boy never came back after he picked the mangoes. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned and the tree was excited. 'Come and play with me', the tree said.
'I have no time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?'
'Sorry, but I do not have any house. But you can chop of my branches to build your house.'
So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The tree was so glad to see him but the man didn't come back. The tree was lonely and sad.
One hot summer day, the man returned and the tree was delighted. 'Come and play with me', the tree said.
'I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?' said the man.
'Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.'
So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and didn't show up for a long time.
Finally, the man returned after many years. 'Sorry, my boy. But I do not have anything for you any more. No more mangoes for you ...' the tree said. 'No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite' the man replied.
'No more trunk for you to climb on.' 'I am too old for that now' the man said.
'I really cannot give you something. The only thing left is my dying roots' the tree said with tears.
' I do not need much now. Just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years' the man said.
'Good. Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest. Come, sit down with me and rest.'
The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears.

Do you think the boy in this story is selfish and cruel ? Do you think he is unthankful?
Then think, have you ever thanked your mother for giving birth to you, for raising you, for loving you? Have you thanked your father for all the hard work he did so that you could grow up comfortably? For all the affection he hid following his strictness ?
You probably haven't. Because we take our parents for granted. We think it is their responsibility to take care of us. But just imagine, what would have happened to you if they didn’t do any one of those responsibilities! Where would you be now?
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it everyday. He climbed to the treetop, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow…he loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him. Time went by…the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day.
One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. "Come and play with me” the tree asked the boy. "I am no longer a child, I do not play around trees any more” the boy replied.
“I want toys. I need money to buy them.” “Sorry, but I do not have money… but you can select all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.” The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned and the tree was excited “Come and play with me” the tree said. “I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?” “Sorry, but I do not have any house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house.” So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came back since then. The tree was again alone and sad.
One hot summer day, the man returned and the tree was delighted. "Come and play with me!” the tree said. “I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?” said the man. "Use my stem to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.” So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time.
Finally, the man returned after many years. "Sorry, my boy. But I do not have something for you anymore. No more apples for you …” the tree said. "No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite" the man replied. "No more trunk for you to climb on” “I am too older for that now” the man said. "I really cannot give you something... the only item left is my dying roots” the tree said with tears. "I do not need much now, just a place to rest. I am sleepy after all these years” the man replied. "Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest, Come, come sit behind with me and rest.” The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears…

Good Result:I Have no Support

You may think, nobody helps me. My parents don't give me money to go to the best private tutor. They didn't send me to the best school. I don't even have my own table. My teachers are mean. My classmates are selfish.
The truth is, you don't need any of these to do well. All you need is the desire to do well. If you really want to, you can. It is as easy as that.
Find it hard to believe?
Dr. B R Ambedkar was born as the 14th child of a poor Indian family at the end of the 19th century. In school he was not allowed to sit inside the classroom with the other students because his family was considered untouchable. If he wanted to drink water somebody from a higher caste would have to pour the water from a height. If the peon who usually did this did not come one day, he would have to go without water. During his entrance exam, he was going to the exam center, which was 19 miles away, on a bullock cart. In the middle of the way, the carter made him get off his cart because he was an outcaste.
But none of these obstacles could stop him. Among the 14 children of the family, only five survived the poverty and sickness. Of the five, he was the only one to grauate to higher school. He became one of the first persons of untouchable origin to go to college in India. Later he earned higher degrees - including multiple doctorates - in law, economics and political science from Columbia University and London School of Economics.
After he came back to India, he recognized himself as a successful lawyer and an important political figure. He dedicated his life to establishing the rights of the untouchables and other oppressed people. As the father of the Indian Constitution, he earned praise and respect from everyone. Indians lovingly call him ‘Baba Ambedkar’. On the anniversary of his birth (14 April) and death (6 December) and on other special days, at least half a million people gather to pay homage to him at his memorial in Mumbai.
Your situation can't be worse than Baba Ambedkar's. Then why shouldn't you be able to succeed? The fact is you proved your ability even before you came to this world. Out of the 300 to 500 million sperms that started their journey to unite with the ovum in the womb only one succeeded - and you are the developed version of that sperm. You are in this world because you won a competition with 500 million participants. You won the first contest and you have the capability to win each and every competition of your life.
If you understand how your mind-body system works, then this belief in yourself will become even stronger. Take your body, for example. You have 500 types of muscles, 206 types of bones and 70 to 100 trillion cells in your body. You have a 60,000 mile long pipeline made up of veins and arteries. This pipeline ensures that each and every cell of your body receives food. Your heart beats continuously for a hundred thousand times a day and pumps out 16 hundred gallons of blood without any break or objection!
If you still think you are worthless, if you still want to be like somebody else, then that is your largest mistake. The brain which controls your mind-body system is at least 1 million times more powerful than a computer. So the price of your brain should be at least 1 million times the price of a computer, which would be 50 thousand million taka or more than 700 million dollars! Everything you see in civilization has been created by using the immense power of the brain. Among the 6 billion people of this world, you are unqiue. There is no one just like you. Your brain is also unique.
So always remember, you have the ability turn every rational desire into reality, including being first in your class. You just need to believe that you can.

Student Problem:I Have always Been a Bad Student

So what? Just because you have never done well does not mean you never will. stoppage really is the pillar of success, you know.
One day, after a four-year-old partially deaf child came home from school, his mother found a note from his teacher in his pocket. The note said, 'Your Tommy is too stupid to learn. Get him out of school.' The mother answered, 'My Tommy is not too brainless to learn. I will teach him myself.' Do you know who Tommy grew up to be? Thomas Alva Edision.
There was another little boy, who could not get admitted to a school till he was 9. When he was finally admitted, his teachers thought he was mentally challenged. 'He never says anything', they complained, 'He just sits in the back bench and smiles'. Do you know who that boy was? Albert Einstein.
There was an engineer who dreamt of having his own car factory, where he would build inexpensive cars reasonable to everyone. Twice he tried, and twice he failed. But he believed 'Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.' So he tried again, and this time he became successful. May be you can guess who that man was. He was Henry Ford.
There was another young man who tried out for his varsity basketball team, but was measured too short to play at that level. Instead of giving up, he started to train rigorously. Later he not only made the team, but became the greatest basketball player of all time. His abilty to leap in the air and perform slam dunks earned him the nick name 'Air Jordan', and 'His Airness.' You have guessed right. That young man was Micheal Jordan.
A young cartoonist tried to get a job in many newspapers. But one after another, the editors rejected him, saying he had no talent. One day a minister of a church hired him to draw some cartoons. He was working in a shed near the church. The shed was full of mice. So he drew a new cartoon. That was the birth of Mickey Mouse. And yes, that man was Walt Disney.
So you didn't get a chance to study in the subject or school of your choice. May be you didn't get the chance to study anywhere! But that doesn't mean your life is over. Life is bigger than you think. It is not over till it is over. So do not give up so easily.
Scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose was born in Munshiganj in Bangladesh. After completing his bachelors from Kolkata’s St. Xavier’s College, he went to England to study medicine. But due to illness, he had to leave medical school after 1 year. So he studied normal Science in Christ' College in Cambridge University instead.
After he came back to India he started teaching Physics at the Presidency College. But there he faced another problem. In those days, the Indian Professors were paid two–third the salary of their European colleagues. Because he was new, he got only one third.
As a protest against this injustice, Jagadish refused to accept the salary check for 3 years. Finally the authorities gave in to his willpower and personality. They made his job permanent with retrospective effect and gave him the full salary of the previous three years.
Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose's research into radio, microwave optics, and plant life have made great contribution to modern civilization. But he was not attracted in patenting his inventions. Instead of benefitting financially from his inventions, he wanted others to use them for universal benefit. This shows what a great scientist he was.
If he hadn't dropped out of medical school, instead of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, the great scientist, we most likely would have got an ordinary doctor!

What's the Problem? I am Not Brilliant, I am Average.

Let me ask you a question. Who is better? Rabbit, or tortoise?
At the first, you may think,`Of course Rabbit’. But if you think deeply, you’ll understand that tortoise is better. The rabbit can be fast but through steady effort, the slow tortoise always reaches the aim first.
So if you think you are not brilliant, it takes you a long time to understand things, and your memory is even worse, congratulations! Because you are the one who will win. If you have average brainpower, you are more likely to do well than those with extraordinary talent. This is not just us saying, this has actually been proved by research. Those with average intelligence usually do improved because they learn to work gradually like the tortoise.
And even if you are a genius, you won’t be able to taste success until you learn to work hard and persevere.
Ibn Sina, the legendary Persian scholar, was the father of modern medicine. He made important contribution in a wide range of fields including chemistry, mathematics, geography, philosophy, literature, psychology, logic, paleontology, and theology.
Because of his exceptional intellect and keen memory he learned everything his teachers had to teach by the age of 14. But when he tried to learn things by himself it did not come that easily to him.
He had great difficulty understanding Aristotle's Metaphysics. It is said that he read the whole book 40 times. He had it memorized word by word but its meaning remained hopelessly doubtful to him.
Ibn Sina had a wonderful habit. Whenever he faced such a problem he would go to the mosque and immerse himself in deep prayer. He would ask God to give him the capability to understand the knowledge he hunted to acquire for people's benefit. He continued praying until he felt that God was listening to his prayers.
This time too he did the same thing. And one day he found a commentary on Aristotole's Metaphysics by another legendary scholar, Al-Farabi at a book stall. It finally helped him understand the book that had been a complete mystery to him. After purchasing it with 3 dirhams he ran to the mosque to thank God for His mercy and gentleness.
So don't feel bad because you are not brilliant. If you can work hard, nothing can end you.

Study Problem:I Don' Like Studying

If you don't like studying, you probably don't actually understand WHY you need to study. You are studying because your parents or your teachers tell you to, not because you realize that studying and doing well in exams can make your life much, much easier.

If you think you need to study only to please your parents and teachers, you will never enjoy it. But if you really know why you need to do well, you will have the inspiration to work hard for it.

The truth is, a good student get a kind of acceptance and recognition that is hard for others to get. S/he gets special attention from everybody. Parents and teachers let him do things that they don't let others.

For example, imagine your brother is a good student and you are not. You want to go to a movie. As soon as you ask your parents for permission, they will start yelling at you, 'What? If have only a month to go before your exams and you want to watch a movie? How dare you? Go to your room and finish your math syllabus by tomorrow.' Half an hour later, your brother doesn't yet ask, he just casually informs your parents that he is going on a trip to India with his friend. Even though his exam will come before yours, they agree with a big smile, because this is their 'good son', the 'serious student.'

When your relatives come to visit, your parents keep on praising your brother, telling them about all the prizes he has got. Then you pass by, and they start complaining. 'He is so naughty, I don't know want to do with him' etc.

In school, everybody knows your brother. When you tell someone you are your brother's brother, they say, 'What you are the great X's brother? Why didn't you tell us before?'. All the teachers know your brother's name, and none of them can remember yours even though you have told them five times. Your only individuality is your brother's brother.

Just imagine, won't you like to be treated like your imaginary brother? Won't it make your life much easier? Especially since doing well in studies will help you be one step ahead in the struggle in education and career. Not only that, the knowledge and self discipline you need to be first in class will also help you become first in life.

So whenever you don't feel like studying, just think of all this. gradually, you will start to like learning.

Ground Zero:Success Life in Vision

Our liberation war is the most glorious episode in our national history. Not only did we attain our independence amazingly quickly, but we set an example of unity, compassion and sacrifice that was unprecedented.
Yet, immediately after the war was over, the image was starkly different. The nation that was unitedly striving towards a common goal, willing to make any sacrifice for it, suddenly became divided, confused, and corrupt. Why?
The reason is that we did not have a new vision or monchobi to replace the old one. We knew that we wanted freedom. But we were not sure about what we wanted next.
All too often, in personal and national lives, we become complacent after achieving a success. We set a goal, achieve it, and think we will live ‘happily every after' like in fairy tales. As a result, we cannot hold on to success, we start going backwards. The student who had brilliant results in school, college and university fails to make any significant contribution in life. The businessman who once had a best-selling product goes out of business a few years later.
But persons who are truly winning never stop. As soon as one goal is reached, they set the next one. This is the secret of success of successful people. This is also the secret of success of the multinationals ruling the world. Consider Microsoft for example. First they made Windows 93, then Windows 98, then Windows 2000, then XP, Vista and now Windows 7. When one product is being launched the next is already in the pipeline.
This is the Ground Zero Principle of winner.
The term ground zero became familiar in our country after the destruction of the twin towers. Ground zero is an empty space, a space where there is nothing, a space which is waiting for something new to arise.
Whatever our present condition is, that is our ground zero.
To some it might be a state of not a success. You might have tried to get a job but failed. That is your ground zero. Someone might have incurred a loss in his business, that is his ground zero. Someone might have just had an argument with his wife, that is his ground zero. Someone might be facing a challenging situation - say a tricky lawsuit - that is his ground zero. Not doing well in exam, not being able to study in the subject of choice might be somebody else's ground zero.
For others, it might a state of success. They might have gotten a job, made profits in their business or done well in their exams. That is their ground zero.
The ground zero principle for success states that no matter what your present condition is, you have to treat is as a ground zero, i.e. a foundation on which you will create a new success. If you haven't been successful yet, you must have belief and a vision so that you can build success on this empty space. On the other hand, if you have had success in the past, you must treat your success as a base for new improvement, and start striving towards new goals.
Because success is not a target, it is a journey. If you stop, others will get ahead. But if you continue the journey, you will become perpetual.

Success:Time Management Tips

Make a To Do List
Making a to-do list is not only the first step of time management, it is in itself a stress help tool. When we are stressed, we worry about 'all the things we need to do’ and feel like we have to keep them all in our head to ensure we do not forget them. This distracts us from the task at hand. When we make a to-do list, we free ourselves from the demands of trying to remember everything we need to do. At the same time, once the tasks are on paper, they don't seem to be overpowering, and there is a feeling of being in control.

Make Choices:
On any given day, there might be a hundred things we want to do, but it would never be possible to do all of them. The key to sound time management is to know your priorities. We feel powerless and stressed because we spend most of our time doing urgent but relatively unimportant tasks or doing things on other people's request while what is most important to us remains undone.
So decide on your priorities and cross of (or delete) the others from your to-do list. Get rid of the fear of other people's reactions, (the fear meditation can be very effective in this regard), and learn to speak 'no'. You will find there is much less stress in your life, and the people you say 'no' to are also accepting your refusal with ease.

Schedule Your Work:
Assign a time for each work on your list and do it then. You are free to make your schedule any way you want, but once you make it try to stick to it as much as possible. Make your schedule realistic, and incorporate extra time for minor disturbances and exigencies. Keep the times when you are most creative and undisturbed for creative work. Once you master enough self control to do things according to a schedule, you will be free of the worry of 'when will get everything done', because you know when everything will get finished.

Learn to Manage Distractions:
A major part of time management is to learn how to minimize and manage distractions. In a study of 1000 workers, Basex, an information technology research firm in New York City, found that interruptions caused by emails, cell phones, black berries and others now consume an average of 2.1 hours a day, or 28% of the workday. Constant interruptions not only waste time, they also make us feel stressed and inadequate and decrease the quality of our work. In a South Asian culture, interruptions caused by an surprising visitor is a big time waster.
To get relief, learn to manage these distractions.
Put your phone on silent when you are doing creative work. Make your own calls when you are in the car or at some other time when it won't interfere with your work. Answer emails only at a specific time. When someone visits you, instead of asking ' How are you?', ask 'What can I do for you?'

Delegate:
Learning to hand over is a skill that can help you deal with workload pressures.
The key to learning to hand over is to accept the fact that the delegated work won't be done exactly the way you would have done it. Once you can accept that, you can move on to find out which tasks can be delegated and to whom
